AFTER YOUR ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

The following information is being provided to you to assist you after today’s treatment. Please follow these instructions as closely as possible. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact our office.

A temporary cement seal has been placed in the endodontic access cavity of your tooth. We would ask that you not drink nor eat for a period of one to two hours in order that the cement be allowed to dry.

Due to the condition of your tooth before treatment, and the manipulation during treatment, your tooth and surrounding gum tissue may remain tender for several days.

Bathing the tooth with warm water as hot as you can comfortably tolerate for 5 minutes every hour on the hour will reduce the tenderness. Continue to bathe the tooth with warm water rinses until the tenderness is gone.

Take all medications prescribed for you as directed. If you have any questions about the dosage or frequency with which the medications should be taken, please contact the office.

Do not be surprised if you cannot eat with this tooth for a few days. However, use the tooth as soon as you can since function makes for more rapid healing. Brush your teeth as usual.

Should pain become more severe or swelling develop, please call the office. Remember, we are as near as you telephone.

PLEASE FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THE RECOMMENDED RESTORATION OF THIS TOOTH.
