Oral Sedation

Every patient receiving any type of sedation in our office is given specific instructions at the consult appointment. The patient is monitored with equipment that measures the pulse rate, oxygen saturation of the blood, blood pressure and electric activity of their heart. In addition, we may give supplemental oxygen starting before the medications are administered and continuing until the treatment is finished. Patients will be required to have someone accompany them to their appointment and drive them home following their appointment. It is important that they remain with the patient until the next day in the unlikely event that the patient should have an unanticipated problem.

Oral sedation is available for patients having a moderate level of anxiety. The type of drugs and doses are customized for each patient. They are taken orally with juice or water and are usually short acting and eliminated from your system within 24 hours.
